It may be much more convenient to renew or apply for a passport while you are home over the summer and have access to any required documents. If you are plan to apply this fall to study off campus during Summer 2023, Fall 2023, January-Term 2024 or Spring 2024, we likewise recommend you get started with your passport application (new or renewal) now. ![]() If you have plans to study off-campus in the next 12 months and you need to apply for or renew your passport please start this process immediately. Given the very tight timeline for those planning to study away in January-Term 2023 or Spring semester 2023, our office recommends applying for expedited processing (and paying to ship your passport priority to the processing center and to have it returned via priority mail). ![]() If your passport is not issued in a timely manner, this may also impact your ability to apply for a visa (where applicable) and could jeopardize your ability to study away. These estimates are much longer than usual and the Department of State recommends applying up to six months in advance of your planned travel to ensure that your passport is processed in time. Currently the routine processing of passport applications is estimated to take up to 11 weeks and expedited processing ($60 extra) can take up to 7 weeks. Take your printed receipt listing your confirmation number and appointment details.The U.S.Review and confirm your information, then select “Schedule Appointment” to finalize.Enter your contact information and decide if you'd like to receive SMS text notifications.Select an available appointment date and time, then agree to the Terms and Conditions.Search for Post Office locations by ZIP Code™ or City/State and choose a location.Choose the passport service you need, then enter the number of adults and minors who need appointments.At the self-service kiosk, touch the screen to begin, then select "Other Services," then "Passport Scheduler.".Go to a Post Office location with lobby self-service kiosks. ![]() If you need to modify or cancel your appointment, click the Manage Appointments tab and enter your confirmation number and email address or phone number. ![]() Click Review Appointment, then confirm your appointment.After you choose your appointment location and time, provide your contact information, and agree to the Terms and Conditions.If you search by location first, you'll then be asked to choose a date and time if you search by date first, you'll then need to choose a location and time.
